Heavy Metal Monk and a Beauty Pageant for Nuns

This September, an Italian priest named Antonio Rungi is launching a beauty pageant for nuns. Considering that his hometown of Mondragone, Italy, which is in the Province of Naples, not the city of Naples (remember our recent geography lesson, kids?) is a rather messy place, it’s probably a good thing that the contest is going to be hosted on the priest’s blog, and not in the town of Mondragone itself.
However, if it were going to take place in the 3D world, I know the perfect act for the opening ceremonies, a Capuchin monk named Brother Cesare, or as he is known in heavy metal circles: Fratello Metallo.
Did you check it out? You’ve got to admit, the man’s energetic, and I like what he says in the interview about how he isn’t trying to convert people to Catholicism, but to convert them to life. Rock on, Brother Cesare!
Of course, if Fratello Metallo isn’t available for the Miss Sister 2008 beauty pageant, perhaps Father Rungi can find those Italian rapping nuns I mentioned here last year. I still haven’t been able to find any of their music videos online.

Tehee! I’ve been hearing about both of them quite a bit lately… it’s quite something!
I can hardly wait to see the beauty contestants. It’s awfully late in SF; you must be burning that midnight oil! ~Tui
Was a toss up on posting about Berlu’s CD or the nuns for me; I may still post about the nuns later in the week (and link to you of course). Some news is just too, um, interesting not to share ;)
I’m curious to see how he does this online pageant. Yeah, quirky, quirky stuff. I’m just amused that this priest has a blog, for starters! ~Tui
Tui, Brother Cesare is amazing! I loved, loved, loved that clip. I just finished “The Shack,” and even though it was very evangelical and rather hokey to me at times, I liked the general message, which is very like what Brother Cesare is trying to convey here, I think.
He is SO cool!
I’m not familiar with “The Shack,” but I’ll look into it. So glad you enjoyed his high energy. I sure did! :) ~Tui
Tui, Bro Cesare rocks! He sure is a positive image of Catholic priests and the religion!
A beauty pageant for nuns…Interesting, yes. But I’d rather see them rockin’ like Bro C.
He certainly seems to be having FUN! :) Still wish I could find a clip of those rapping nuns, though… ~Tui
