Run DNC and Political Karaoke
I’ve set the alarm clock for 3:30 a.m. No, I’m not going fishing; Angelo and I are getting up to catch Barack Obama’s speech at the Democratic National Convention - live. Since we’re in Naples, that means getting up early. Guess I’d better fill the mokka with water and coffee before we go to bed tonight, so we can cheer him on Italian style, while sipping stovetop espresso.
I hope there’s an option to listen to the speech in English, otherwise, I’ll have to squint my ears to catch Obama’s voice beneath the translations. Of course, it’s also interesting to hear how Italian translators deal with American idioms. I saw a clip of Obama saying that Hillary had “rocked the house,” for instance, which was translated as “shook the house,” despite the fact that, according to Angelo, Italians don’t really use that expression.
Have you heard about the political karaoke in Denver? It’s like regular karaoke, except instead of songs, you get to perform political speeches - not the entire speech, though, just an 8 minute segment of it. I think that could be a blast with the right group of hammy friends and a couple margaritas, don’t you?

That political karaoke is bizarre! I’m going to be in a mandatory meeting during Obama’s speech tonight. I’m not happy. Guess I’ll have to catch it via internet tomorrow.
Perhaps it seems silly to get up and watch his speech, but I really wanted to hear it in English - which I did. :) ~Tui
“I think that could be a blast with the right group of hammy friends and a couple margaritas, don’t you?”
No.
Really? You were someone I could envision coming up with an original and funny rendition of a political speech. OK, then. Yer officially not invited, woofmutt! ~Tui
What about è acceso la casa? And, love your photos of Napoli!
Sounds good to me, but I’m no expert! Glad you like the photos. I’m gonna wander around this afternoon and take a bunch more. :) ~Tui
Not going fishing? Just kidding.
I have a hard enought time with regular karaoke :-)
Don’t be so modest, G-man! As I recall, you’re a real crooner! ~Tui
and what a speech it was… Hope you had a great summer Tui.
