Tonight I grabbed the first “taken from the passenger seat photo” I ran into on my computer, and it’s this – a shot taken whilst crossing the bridge into Sant’Agata de’ Goti in Italy. As you can see from the following pics, we literally drove through town!
I don’t imagine that too many Hummers or limos ever snake their way through these labyrinthian alleyways.
You’ve got to wonder what happened in the past to require street signs telling folks to keep left instead of driving through that wooden doorway. I thought that was a given. I did, however, get my license in the USA, so what do I know? (Case in point, I tend to drive inside the dotted lines, instead of straddling them, and until I lived in Italy, I didn’t think it mandatory to look both ways when crossing one-way streets.)
But I digress, gentle reader. It’s a lovely town, as you can see from these shotgun shots. Yeah, that’s what I’m going to call it from now on when I post pix from the passenger seat: shotgun shots. It’s like when you call shotgun, y’know? Hmmm… where did that term originate from, anyway? Texas? Oh, apparently not. Hollywood! can lay claim to this one.
I think that the term “riding shotgun” must come from the days of stagecoaches as the guy sitting next to the driver usually was cradling a shotgun in his arms. From what I remember of watching cowboy movies and shows on television.

I, too, take pictures from the car, sometimes even if I’m the driver. I call mine “Drive-by Shootings”. Not the best pun, but it’s mine.

the town seems not so good for cars like limo but really nice town. nice pictures got great views.
I love those pictures. I need to figure out how to take shotgun pictures with my camera.
It reminds me of my favorite German town–Rothenburg. When I visited they didn’t let cars up at all. Streets were cobblestone and just too narrow.
