Mental Mosaic: Tui Cameron

About Mental Mosaic – have blog, will travel: Tui Cameron is an avid traveler. No matter where she happens to be, she enjoys interviewing locals and exploring regional traditions – with a keen eye for cultural quirks.

Travel writing: Tui’s writing and photos have appeared in easyJet, Wizzit, Click, Ling, and SkyEurope. She also wrote the shopping chapter in the Time Out Naples: Capri, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast 2010 edition.

Photography: All photos on this site were taken by Tui Cameron, unless otherwise stated. If you would like to use one, please contact her at tui [at] mentalmosaic.com. She’ll probably give you a higher res photo than what is on the blog.

Background: Tui has worn a lot of hats in her life – literally. She is especially fond of berets. Like many freelance writers, she’s run the gauntlet of odd jobs: everything from composing corporate background music, to running a coffeehouse/restaurant called the New Bohemian for a couple of years. Tui even worked as a property caretaker while living on a tiny island with a population of 7 people for 5 years – to the day! During that time, she home-schooled her step-daughter, and spent a lot of time writing.

Tui has lived abroad twice, once in Antwerp, Belgium and more recently in Naples, Italy.  Her latest adventure is exploring north Texas. Sure, it’s part of the US, but she’s already experienced way more culture shock than she ever expected!

Contact information: Enough of this third person stuff! Want to reach me directly? Try: tui [at] mentalmosaic.com That ought to do the trick. I’d love to hear from you. :)

It’s nice to meet you, Carey. I need to head back over to your blog and see what’s going on now, too. It’s funny how I found your blog to begin with: I’d heard that Chuck Norris came to Azle, and your blog was the only first person reference to it I could find. I’m glad you were able to meet him!

As for my life, I suppose it’s not really that exciting. I just have a tendency to get excited over the littlest of things! :)

Tui… your site is wonderful! I just read your post on Bleeding Espresso and you did a fantastic job! (and I’m not just saying that because I’m a Dallasite!!) I live in Torino now and you’ve just added to my homesickness. I’ve got some spots for you to visit (if you haven’t already).. i’ll send you an email with the info. Thanks again and I’ll definitely keep reading your blog!

Thank you for stopping by and giving me a howdy! I would love your input for places to explore in the Dallas area. In fact, I’m thinking of starting a blog all about my explorations around here. There is so much to see, do and eat! I recently learned that the DFW area has more restaurants per capita than NYC. ~Tui
